Parlay bets explained!
While getting married and witnessing the birth of a child are definitely thrills of a lifetime, having a large amount of money riding on the outcome of a sporting event surely cannot be far behind. Earlier this year I had the opportunity to experience this thrill with a larger than normal parlay beting on college basketball games. For those that are not familiar with the term, a parlay is a single bet that links together two or more individual wagers and is dependent on each of those wagers winning.
The benefit of the parlay is that the payoff is much higher than if one were playing a straight bet, while the downside is that the odds of winning are not high since if just one of the sides you have chosen loses the entire bet is lost. On this particular Saturday in February, while studying the college basketball lines for the day, three games jumped out at me.
In fact, I was so confident in Florida State, Purdue and Wake Forest winning by the given spreads that I decided to parlay the three together. Now most experts will tell you that parlay bets are for suckers. And while much of the time that is true, I was so confident in my research on those games that I decided a parlay was well worth the risk. And risk it I did as I laid down $1,000 with the chance to win $3,500. That night I went to bed $3,500 richer which goes to show that a winning parlay is definitely the thrill of a lifetime.
Poker Jargon
How often do we use jargon from the familiar game of poker without giving the origins of our cliches a second thought? Most of us know what an ace in the hole is, in general terms, but we seldom stop to consider that it means a face down card in the game of stud poker.
Blue chip might mean stocks to some people but to a poker player it signifies the highest denomination of chips in a game. Passing the buck means handing over responsibility to someone else.
Poker has its origins in the saloons of the nineteenth century, when players took turns dealing so as to minimize the chances that the dealer would cheat. An object known as a buck was passed around the table to indicate whose turn it was to deal. A wild card is an unpredictable factor that allows a player to designate a card as any other card he or she chooses, adding variation to the game. “Deuces wild” is a common example that has made its way into colloquial speech.
There are many others: up the ante, high roller, calling a bluff, when the chips are down. Our language has been forever coloured by a game popularized by Mississippi riverboat gamblers and carried west by the pioneers.

France Camping Holiday
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on April 9th, 2009
France is the ideal place to enjoy camping holidays. Thousands of camping sites are available in France. They all offer different services and facilities. There are many self-catering holiday campsites also that offer camping tents with other facilities like swimming pools, bars, clubs, playgrounds, entertainment etc. These camp sites are ideal for a family camping holiday. They welcome holiday makers and have facilities such as electric hook up points, waste disposal points and some of them cater for the disabled too. Because of this, a holiday in France is the best choice for a self-catering holiday without any restrictions.
Apart from the typical camping sites available in France, one can also find places to pitch your tent such as on farms. If you do decide to camp on a farm and pay the owners of the farm, you should be prepared for a lack of facilities, you really will be living outdoors, so be prepared for this if you make such a decision. In France, one is allowed to camp only in authorised locations and not in places such as woods.
Camping holidays give you an opportunity to see the country and enjoy the beauties of nature right at the doorstep of your tent or mobile home. Each of the areas of France has its unique charm but Brittany offers many scenic attractions and fantastic camp sites. Most of the camp sites are open between May and September but if one wants a quieter environment, it is better to travel in May or June when the weather is a little warm. Since the majority of camp sites offer fully equipped accommodation, one does not need to bring any extra equipment. Still, care should be taken to check that there is no shortage of sleeping materials and basic toiletries and you should not forget to take tea bags, coffee and sugar. If you are going to a remote camping location with your family, you should keep enough bottled water with you because you may not get water suitable for drinking or cleaning wounds whilst camping. A stock of home-made food should be kept to make the holiday more enjoyable. One should have an appropriate sleeping bag according to the weather conditions and a lightweight tent made of durable material.
Human Bingo: a great way of getting to know people
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on April 9th, 2009
Bingo has been a popular game in church meetings and other public events as it is an easy way to get everyone to participate and have some fun. In addition, the element of chance adds excitement. The best type of bingo I have played is “human Bingo”, where people are sent around the room to find people with some matching characteristics. For example, some people have worked in multiple countries, while others spoke both Japanese and German. By going around the room and finding people who fit in the criteria, one gets to realize the richness of experiences that are in that room. This is a great icebreaker for meeting of 30-50 people when most are meeting for the first time. Usually, 30 minutes will be sufficient to get the crowd thoroughly enjoying themselves. It does take some time to design the bingo questions as you want them to be fun and not embarrassing. However, the time spent is well worth the effort.
Cases of medical negligence

With the sharp rise in health problems, we are frequently visiting our healthcare practitioners for medical treatment. Unfortunately this has led to a spurt in the cases of medical negligence, also known as clinical negligence. In simple terms, medical negligence can be defined as an act of negligence on the part of medical professionals that does not conform to the standards of conventional medical practice, ultimately injuring the patient. Some instances of clinical negligence could include cases like damaging an organ which was not meant to be touched during surgery, operating on wrong limb, wrong diagnosis and wrong prescription of medicine. Any of these activities can lead to the patient being hurt, sometimes fatally. It can lead to loss of his wages, or inability to lead a normal life. In certain cases, it may even cost him his life. If you have ever been a victim of medical negligence, you can always file a court case on the grounds of medical negligence against the medical practitioner. This case can be filed against doctors, nurses and even hospitals. In case if the negligence has led to the death of your family member, you can file the case on their behalf. To get the court ruling in your favour, you should be able to prove the following aspects: The legitimate duty of the medical care provider existed. This duty was ignored by the provider or that the standard of duty provided did not meet the highest standard of duty. This standard is obtained from expert statement. The breach of duty led to an injury or death. Damages to show the monetary or emotional loss suffered by you. You or your lawyer has to file a case in a court where the incident occurred. From the time of filing the suit and the trial, both you and the accused have to share data via discovery. At times, the opposite party may try to negotiate with you for out-of-court settlement. If no agreement is reached, the trial begins. You have to submit the relevant proof to the judge or jury. If convinced, you will win the case and be awarded the damages.
